Troy Davis Was Murdered Last Night by a Government That Believes Citizens Have No Value

Troy Davis, May He Rest in Peace

Troy Davis was falsely convicted for the murder of a policeman. There was no evidence. None, not one shred. There was eye witness testimony from nine people. Seven of them recanted with statements that they’d been coerced to testify. Fingers were pointed at another man as the killer, a man who was one of the other two witnesses who didn’t recant. He was also the man who had been beating a homeless man—the reason for the call to the police that resulted in the homeless man’s shooting death.

The title of this piece is accurate. Troy Davis was murdered by the state of Georgia…No, he was murdered by the United States. The US Supreme Court had a last-minute chance to reprieve him, but declined. As they have signalled recently, they’ve come to the conclusion that the actual innocence of a person really isn’t their concern when it comes to putting him to death. All that matters is that the points of the law be met.

When a state takes that attitude, it has decided that its citizens have no value. They have decided that human life is not their concern. That should not surprise anyone. The United States has enthralled itself to another master, the corporations that now run the state. If they allow the innocence of a man to determine his fate in the legal system, then they can be held to a higher standard than that of the minute detail of law.

This is a time when the minute detail of law is used to enact corporate utilization of the legal system to thwart the will and need of the people, and to force the acceptance of their desires on humanity. In such a time, the piddling concern of whether one man lives or dies pales behind the need to know that they—and only they—control the system. The system cannot be allowed to bend simply because one person is innocent.

Those of us who live with the reality of a system that hides medical malpractice, that allows pharmaceutical corporations to lie and sell poisons that do far more harm than good, a medical system that literally kills people at a rate of jumbo jets crashing every single day, a system that sits back while chronic diseases like cancer, asthma, diabetes, and autism explode in our children and destroy their futures without bothering to address the causes, that allows nature to be destroyed by pseudo-agriculture and nuclear power and coal and oil companies…we are people who cannot be surprised at the murder of Troy Davis. We see murder and torture and debilitation by the state every single day, all around us.

The murder of Troy Davis stands for a legal system run by a rogue state.

Troy Davis was tried under the American system of justice and found guilty. He ran through the entire gamut of appeals. If he really was innocent don’t you think the system would have found that? What more do you want? There were still TWO witnesses that did not recant. Is their testimony to be ignored? You are alleging that there was a vast conspiracy to have this man executed for something he didn’t do. Where’s YOUR proof? You bleeding hearts need to wake up. Look up Kenneth McDuff and see what happens when convicted murderers are let loose in society.

You seem to have forgotten something rather important. It is not up to the accused to prove his innocence. It is up to the state to prove his guilt – and that is something they did not do.

One of the two witnesses who did not recant was the one who was beating the homeless man. His testimony is surely not worth much. That leaves only one – and you’re ignoring that others were coerced into testifying.

The idea that a person can be executed when there is nothing tying him to the murder is abhorrent in the extreme. Obviously, the system did not work, as it executed – murdered – a man without having a shred of evidence that he was guilty.

I signed two petitions to stop the murder of Troy Davis. I think 650,00 signed the same one I did that was given to the Governor. I don’t believe there was sufficient evidence to murder him and I don’t believe in the death penalty.

Davis took this to state supreme court and he lost! That is the system we live in. I truly believe in the system. I don’t think anyone should die but we have to pay the price for things we do in our life. The officer had a wife, mom, dad, and two little girls that all suffer and will continue to suffer the rest of their lives!! People get all bend out of shape when someone who has been in prison all these years is to be put to death. Because our liberal media let’s us people hear what they want us to hear! Don’t believe the hype he was found guilty!!!!!!

But that’s the problem – No one has proven that Troy Davis has done what he’s accused of. Yes, the officer had a wife, mom, dad, and two little girls. But what has that got to do with Troy Davis? He has not been shown to be guilty of killing their husband-son-father.

To believe in a system that will kill someone without proof he’s guilty it utterly without sense.

You need to do your research before you open your mouth!!! EP.

It was Georgia. The accused was black. He could not afford decent legal council. Lack of capital = capital punishment, and those who made the final decision would not be swayed because they are bigoted, short sighted, conservative, and have tunnel vision. No doubt they have a few Bubbas in their families.
