When normal methods failed, these parents built something amazing to help their autistic children.

Like most schools, public schools in North Carolina are having trouble meeting the individual needs of each student. This is especially true when it comes to children with autism. While, at the elementary level, public schools perform well, difficulties arise at the middle school and high school levels. Well, a group of parents of autistic children decided to take matters into their own hands by creating a private school focused specifically on addressing the needs of autistic children. Called the “Lionhart Academy”, this school will focus on developing the social skills of autistic children in order to prepare them for work and social situations as adults.
