Food Irradiation SymbolAs Irradiation of Food Induces Radioactivity: Government Claims It Doesn’t Are Lies clearly documents, irradiation of food renders it radioactive. Of course, governmental agencies deny that irradiated foods are harmful in any way. Here are some of those statements claiming lying about how safe it is:

CDC (Centers for Disease Control)

An overwhelming body of scientific evidence demonstrates that irradiation does not harm the nutritional value of food, nor does it make the food unsafe to eat.

USDA (United States Food and Drug Administration):

FDA and other public health agencies worldwide have evaluated the safety of irradiation over the last 50 years and found it to be safe. Irradiation has been endorsed by the American Medical Association and the United Nations’ World Health Organization.

WHO (World Health Organization)

On the basis of the extensive scientific evidence reviewed, the report concludes that food irradiated to any dose appropriate to achieve the intended technological objective is both safe to consume and nutritionally adequate. The experts further conclude that no upper dose limit need be imposed, and that irradiated foods are deemed wholesome throughout the technologically useful dose range from below 10 kGy to envisioned doses above 10 kGy.

AMA (American Medical Association):

It is the policy of the AMA to: (1) affirm food irradiation as a safe and effective process that increases the safety of food when applied according to governing regulations.

Food Standards Agency (UK):

Decades of research worldwide have shown that irradiation of food is a safe and effective way to kill bacteria in foods and extend its shelf life. Food irradiation has been examined thoroughly by joint committees of the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), by the European Community Scientific Committee for Food, the United States Food and Drug Administration and by a House of Lords committee.

Trust your governmental and mainstream medical agencies at your risk. Every one of these statements is untrue. Most myths of food irradiation are debunked in Food Irradiation Supports Agribusiness, Not Health. If in doubt, refer to the references, which include studies documenting harms caused by irradiation.
