Agribusiness to Use GMOs to Fix a Plague It Caused: Bowel Cancer. And Test It on the Public.

The Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organization of Australia (CSIRO) tacitly admits that Agribusiness causes most bowel cancer. Now, they’re creating genetically modified wheat to fix what they’ve caused.

Dr. David Topping of CSIRO says that 80 percent of colon cancers are preventable, and that the cause is removal of most soluble fibers from grains during mass processing to produce the food stuffs that so often pass as food today.

Of course, the rational approach to prevent colon cancer would be to stop doing what causes it. But that would reduce profits to Agribusiness. Therefore, Topping advocates creating genetically modified grains that can resist the destruction caused by production processes used in making pseudo-foods routinely sold in supermarkets and restaurants.

Adelaide Now reports that Topping stated:

In the ’50s the idea grew that people consuming traditional diets high in unrefined cereal foods did not seem to get diseases that weren’t there before. So, although they were better fed … they had higher rates of coronary heart disease, diabetes, appendicitis, constipation and more.

We’ve taken out what we call the soluble fibres and what’s called resistant starch. The reason that we are putting them back is because they don’t feed us, they feed our bacteria. These bacteria metabolise the fibre and they produce compounds which promote the health of the bowel, the liver and indirectly the whole body.

It could not be clearer that Agribusiness fully comprehends that it has been killing thousands of people with colon cancer for decades.

However, rather than come out and admit it and ask for pardon, they want to press something on us that’s been demonstrated over and over through scientific studies to cause horrific health damage, including birth defects, miscarriages, and chronic diseases.

Agribusiness proposes to resolve the problem it’s created by creating genetically modified grains that—they say—would prevent the destruction of grains by modern food processing methods. In fact, they are already far down the road of producing them, and hope to have them ready for market in 2-3 years.

CSIRO Is Already Growing It!

If that weren’t hubristic enough, CSIRO has already started to grow this GMO wheat in open fields in Australia. Greenpeace is vigorously protesting it and has destroyed the first field. They state in a question and answer on the issue:

The GM wheat that has been released across Australia has not been proven safe. It hasn’t been tested for toxic and allergic effects. All evidence shows that GM wheat cannot be contained; it will contaminate our food supply and the environment.

The Australian Government has refused to protect Australians from harm caused by the release of unsafe genetically modified wheat. GM organisms are living organisms that can multiply and cross-breed. They pose a threat of irreversible damage to Australia’s environment and our food supply.

Greenpeace gives three primary reasons that open genetic experiments like this one should not be done:

  • Clear evidence that GM contaminates, and the Australian government has data documenting it.
  • GM foods have not been shown to be safe to eat.
  • GM foods may not be genetically stable, and this is considered one of the greatest risks associated with the technology. The government of Australia has acknowledged this with the statement, “Gene technology has the potential to cause unintended effects due to the process used to insert new genetic material or by producing a gene product that affects multiple traits.” Yet, they approved the growth of this GM wheat anyway!

Even all this isn’t the end of the perfidy shown by CSIRO. They are also planning to test the wheat on humans—and they have no interest in looking for toxic or allergic effects. Their sole interest is whether the GM wheat does what it’s modified to do. There is absolutely no concern for potential risks to the public!

Greenpeace issued a freedom of information request for ethics, health, and safety papers regarding the the GM wheat. It has been refused, on the basis of being “commercial in confidence”. So, the simple claim of a corporation that documents are confidential means that the people of Australia are not entitled to any information regarding the safety of this GM grain.

Here is a brief video produced by Greenpeace
explaining their concerns about GM wheat:

Hypocrisy and Hubris

The hypocrisy and hubris of Australia’s government agency, CSIRO, and its commercial partner in this GM grain, Limagrain, are stunning and emblematic of the entire Agribusiness industry:

  • The industry caused a plague of deadly bowel cancer that has killed thousands—and knows it has done so.
  • To circumvent the plague it’s caused—and make additional profits of, literally, billions of dollars—Agribusiness intends to grow and sell genetically modified grain.
  • Limagrain and its partner-in-crime, the governmental agency CSIRO, refuse to provide information about the GM wheat, claiming that it’s confidential.
  • CSIRO is trying to grow this grain in uncontrolled outdoor plantings, in spite of acknowledged severe risks.
  • CSIRO intends to test the resultant wheat on humans without bothering to look for adverse effects associated with it.

What more do we need to know that Agribusiness is corrupt beyond redemption?
