In-depth Interview With Dr. Andrew Wakefield (video)by Heidi Stevenson16 April 2010
Dr. Wakefield discusses his findings on autism, bowel disease, and vaccines with Dr. Mercola, who calls him one of the most prominent researchers in the world in this area. He tells his story for the first time, stating "I've never met so many experts as I have in autism, experts about a disease about which we know nothing. We know nothing, and yet we're surrounded by experts. And that's a paradox that needs to be resolved." Dr. Wakefield says of his findings on autism: Part of that clinical story was bowel symptoms, and that led to the story of a novel bowel disease, and you'd think that would be a cause for some small celebration, but oh no. Why not? There was something that was treatable. For the first time in this disorder you had something tangible, treatable, that you could do something about as a doctor. It should have been a cause for celebration, but no, because part of the parent's story in the majority of children was regression after a vaccine. Now if those children had regressed after natural chicken pox, you and I would not be sitting here now.
